About the 301 Panthers

The 301 Panthers not only strive for excellence on the track, but we expect our athletes to excel in the classrooms. We want to ensure we develop true STUDENT-ATHLETES.Our current Team GPA is 3.74. We expect that the principles of discipline, focus, determination and persistence are applied not only in the classroom and the track, but in life! The 301 Panthers track club’s motto is to develop our athletes to become the best versions of themselves on and off the track. Meet Our Team

Collene Wilson

Collene Wilson is an experienced business professional. She understands the importance of proper planning for achieving long term goals. She has invested significant time in her career to supporting youth programs. She worked within the interior design/home staging industry. She was responsible for interior project management of new construction single family homes, condos and commercial building renovations for 20 years until 2019 during the pandemic shutdown. Collene’s drive to ultimately pursue risk management and financial literacy stems from her passion to help individuals (particularly youth) and businesses navigate life and business cycles.


She used her previous professional experience to obtain licenses in Life, Health, Annuity, Property and Casualty and embarked on a new career in risk management and financial literacy. She has a passion for youth financial literacy particularly for children pursuing professional sports.


She is a proud Howard University Bison (The Real HU) and grew up in Maryland. She loves her West Indian culture and enjoyed living in the Caribbean for 4 years where she was instrumental in developing 2 hotel wellness spas in St. Thomas, USVI and in Grenada, WI).


She currently resides in Maryland with her husband and son and enjoys being a bonus mom to her “grown” daughter. She is very passionate about Track and Field and is a founding member of the 301 Panthers “Lady Panthers”. Her other interest includes cooking, reading, music, Children’s Ministry at her church, and event planning/management.

Cherié Smith is a native of Washington D.C. and currently resides in Bowie, Maryland with her husband, Edward Smith, and two Daughters, Madison and Autumn Smith. She is a Program Analyst for the District of Columbia Government who has a passion for serving. She has over 20 years of customer service and administrative support experience. She is a God fearing woman, Ministry Leader, Singer and a Business Owner, who believes in pouring into her community and youth with every opportunity given. She believes in the scripture that states, “Train up a child in the way they should go, and when they get old they will not depart from it”. She has been a member of the 301 Panther family since 2020 and a founding member of the 301 Panther “Lady Panthers”. Her ultimate goal is to be of service, and support the overall morals, values and goals of the Panther family. She is one of our biggest cheerleaders and her motto is “Teamwork makes the Dream work!

William Whitehead is a 36-year-old track and field coach with an impressive record of accomplishments both on and off the field. As a coach, William is known for his unwavering commitment to excellence and his ability to motivate his athletes to achieve their highest potential.

William’s dedication to athletics began early in his life, as he excelled in multiple sports throughout his youth. After serving in the military, William found a new calling as a coach, where he has continued to inspire and motivate athletes to reach their goals.

In addition to his coaching career, William is also a devoted father and husband, and he values the importance of family and community in all that he does. He is an active volunteer in his community, working with local youth organizations to help provide opportunities for young people to develop their talents and reach their full potential.

Through his hard work, determination, and commitment to excellence, William has established himself as a fantastic coach and father in the community. He is a true role model for his athletes and all those who know him, and he embodies the values of integrity, character, and perseverance that are essential to achieving success in any field.

Coach Derek is a native of Washington, DC, he competed as a two sport athlete in Football and baseball in high school. He is a graduate of Tennessee State University in Nashville, TN. He is a strong advocate for youth sports for competitive growth and character development. Coach Derek has been coaching track for 7 years, with 5 years on the 301 Panthers coaching staff. Coach Derek has been a positive influence with the 301 Panthers with his energy and enthusiasm for developing championship minded athletes. In addition to his time and spirit dedicated as a track coach. He is also a dedicated youth football coach in the Bowie, MD area.

More specifically, for the past fve (5) years, he has been coaching young athletes in track and field focusing on the 400m, 800m and jumps-long and triple. Coach Warren’s athletes have routinely qualified for the Junior Olympics in AAU and USATF. As a new club, Coach Warren has been instrumental in developing the athletes of the 301 Panthers brand to become the best athletes they can become. He uses positive motivation, consistent development of study habits, and Best Practice methods to develop athletes into the best versions of themselves. We build championship mindsets by understanding and building on each athletes’ best qualities and developing the areas of deficiency.

Coach Takima is a Federal Adjudicator with a Bachelor’s degree from Howard University and a MBA from Keller Graduate School of Management.

Takima’s love for track and field (T&F) started at 6 years old when she competed in her first meet. She was an Academic All American athlete in high school that competed at the Colgate Games, Millrose Games, Jr Olympics, Penn Relays and many other national meets. She has several years of experience as a Pentathlete, Hurdler, Sprinter and on 4×100 and 4×200 relays.

She is passionate and enthusiastic about identifying and coaching athletes interested in multi-events.

Her philosophy is that every athlete can find a race or field event to enjoy and excel in, if they believe in themselves and work for it.
